Program Liaison
Position Description 2010-2011
Position Summary:
The AIS Program Liaison (PL) lives on campus, and is responsible for providing a link between campus-wide programs/activities and the residence centers. The PL will facilitate and support programming within one of five themed areas:
· Academic Engagement
· Active Life
· Activities & Leadership
· Arts & Culture
· IU Traditions

PLs will not need to create programs; rather, they will be responsible for helping to market existing events in the residence centers and will need to take care of various logistics associated with programs. The PL is responsible for one program per month within his or her neighborhood pertaining to the theme to which he or she is assigned. PLs will have the opportunity to collaborate with one another across and within neighborhoods for programs, which will increase their network at IU and help build leadership skills. Additionally, PLs will support the programming of RAs within learning communities.
The PL reports directly to his or her Program Liaison Manager (PLM), an upper-class student living in the same neighborhood as the PL. The PL will also work closely with the Assistant Director of Academic Initiatives and Services. Finally, PLs are responsible for attendance at the following meetings:
o Monthly one-on-one meetings with his or her PLM
o Bi-weekly small, or neighborhood, staff meetings**
o Team meetings based on his or her programming theme**
o Large staff meetings (Assistant Director of AIS, all PLMs, and all PLs)**
**Please note: PLs must be available on Monday evenings from 7pm-10pm in order to allow adequate time to attend these meetings. Large staff and team meetings will be held on weeks opposite small staff meetings.
Qualifications:
To be eligible to serve as PL, students returning to Indiana University must have 2.5 semester and cumulative GPA. Preference shall be granted to candidates with a 3.0 or higher.
Students new to Indiana University must achieve an 1150 on the Math & Verbal sections of the SAT, or a 28 on the ACT.
Program Liaisons must be enrolled as full-time IUB undergraduate students and maintain at least a 2.5 semester and cumulative GPA for the duration of their service. PLs found responsible for academic or personal misconduct resulting in probationary status with the university will be removed from their roles immediately.
