Company description:
• A professional service firm built upon a network of top-of-the-class editors to help Chinese scholars and researchers eliminate paper-structuring and language barriers, and get their work published in the English journals of their choice.
Job Title I : Part-time Editor
Position Description:
• Revise manuscripts originally written in English by clients at two levels: (i) improve the scientific logic flow, and the structure of presentation to meet the publication standards of premium research journals; and (ii) polish the English in terms of spelling, grammar, and flow so that language is not a barrier to the communication of ideas.
• Editors can pick their subject areas, set their own availability, and decide how much work they want to request at any given time; these settings can be adjusted at any time. Compensation is based on manuscript length and the assignment’s pre-determined turnaround time
• Can earn $25-65/hour
Qualification:
• PhD degree in science, engineering, social sciences, or clinical studies; PhD candidates or other advanced-degree candidates with a proven track record of writing and publication are eligible
• Previous editing experience serves is a plus, but not required
• Fluency in English writing is required
• Being able to read and understand Chinese is a plus, but not required
Job Title II: Part-time Translator
Position Description:
• Translate Chinese manuscripts originally written by clients
• Translators can pick their subject areas, set their own availability, and decide how much work they want to request at any given time; these settings can be adjusted at any time. Compensation is based on manuscript length and the assignment’s pre-determined turnaround time
• Can earn $20-60/h
Qualification:
• Minimal Bachelor degree in science, engineering, social sciences, or medicine Advanced degree or research experience is a plus
• Must be able to read and understand Chinese
• Fluency in English writing is required
